It is officially February! January’s cold and dreary days are behind us, and the month that inspires love and positivity helps carry us through the winter. Valentine’s Day helps us take pause and recognize the importance of relationships around us, whether that’s feelings involving family, friendship, or romantic relationships. Feeling inspired this month, The Illinois Hammer took an opportunity to spread love, joy, and kindness just in time for Cupid’s favorite day of the year.
Share the Love
The Illinois Hammer shared the love this Valentine’s Day in downtown Chicago. The firm bought two dozen red roses, each accompanied by a handmade valentine with thoughtful and encouraging messages. Three of our employees handed out roses to unknowing individuals on LaSalle Street and the surrounding areas, spreading positivity and brightening someone else’s day. We were excited to capture this initiative on film to continue to spread happiness and joy throughout the month of February.
Share the Laughs
The Illinois Hammer sponsored a social media-driven caption contest to help share a laugh this Valentine’s Day. 7 Winners and their hilarious responses were chosen as winners of the contest, with the prize being a $50 virtual AMEX gift card. We were excited to see this photo edit spark creativity, and we received a number of witty entries on this photo edit of Brad and Dom. We love to see our Facebook followers enjoy a good laugh and experience a fun challenge! Be sure and follow our social media channels for a chance to participate and win our future contests!

Race Judicata
The Illinois Hammer proudly participates in Race Judicata every year, which benefits the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation. This 5K run helps support an organization that ensures and promotes the voluntary pro bono legal representation to people who work and live in poverty. Race Judicata is one of our firm’s favorite events, and we can be seen finishing this run (or walk) in Lincoln Park with giant, inflatable hammers. Keep an eye out for our team participating this year in 2025!
One Tail at a Time
The Illinois Hammer proudly sponsors One Tail at a Time, a nonprofit group working to end pet homelessness and support animal welfare in Chicago/across Illinois. In the fall of 2024, The Illinois Hammer helped sponsor and pay the adoption fees for Hammer, a small mixed breed dog that was abandoned by his previous owners and found wandering the streets. This Chicago pup found his forever home through One Tail at a Time, where he now lives comfortably in a loving home with young children. Hammer’s story represents resilience and strength, two of The Illinois Hammer’s core values.
Care Packs for Unhoused Individuals
In November of 2024, The Illinois Hammer was proud to support Lincoln Park Community Services. Lincoln Park Community Services (LPCS) brings communities together to empower individuals facing homelessness and poverty to secure stable housing and make sustainable life changes. Our firm helped put together care packs to help address the needs of those experiencing the harsh freezing weather. These care packs included items like socks, gloves, hats, blankets, hand-warmers, and other non-perishable items to help move winter along.
Turkey Giveaway Contest
No turkey? No problem! Our firm held a “turkey” giveaway contest through our social media channels featuring a prize of $25 AMEX gift cards. The Illinois Hammer wanted to find a way to give back to the community and spread joy as the Thanksgiving holiday approached. We were thrilled to see an active participation and help put turkeys on twenty different dinner tables in November of 2024.
Canned Food Drive with the Greater Chicago Food Depository
The Illinois Hammer held a local canned food drive in our office during the season of gratitude 2024. Our firm wanted to help and support The Greater Chicago Food Depository, Chicago’s food bank. The Greater Chicago Food Depository aims to nourish our neighbors at risk of hunger, making a positive impact on the lives of individuals and families facing food insecurity. The firm matched and doubled all contributions, leading to a successful donation just in time for Thanksgiving.
