While shopping, the client was struck in the right foot by an employee with a pallet jack without warning. She immediately filed an incident report at the store and returned home assuming her symptoms would be resolved with rest, ice, and over-the-counter medication. When her pain did not resolve, she sought medical treatment. Following her initial evaluation, the client underwent scans, MRIs and was diagnosed with a crush injury, involving a fracture, and loose bodies in her right ankle.
Despite physical therapy, her symptoms continued. In Fall of 2024, she received three surgeries and may require more in the future. After the accident, the client was unable to work due to severe pain that made standing and walking during extended periods difficult.
Following this traumatic accident, Junior Partner Jonathan Williams fought tirelessly for his client. The retail store claimed the contact between the pallet jack and his client never occurred. The client also had a previous injury to her right foot which required surgery 12 years prior, becoming a major dispute within the case. Pushing forward, Attorney Jonathan Williams took dispositions of the client, her daughter, the client’s doctors, and multiple store employees in defense.
After receiving the $600,000 settlement, Junior Partner Jonathan Williams provided his client with compensation that reflects the life-long impact of her injuries.
In reflection, Attorney Jonathan William says:
“The store wanted to pay our client nothing. Instead, we filed a lawsuit and fought through extensive litigation to establish evidence, that was favorable to our client and positioned her case to obtain a great result. Fighting for and obtaining great results for clients who are told that they have no case is why I love what I do.”
Due to Attorney Jonathan Williams’ persistent effort, this settlement will help his client cover both her ongoing medical needs and the expenses associated with the treatment she has already undergone.
