The statute of limitations in Illinois, when you call the Illinois Hammer Injury Law Firm we’re very experienced in knowing the different statute od limitations for the different personal injuries. There is a significant amount of different statute of limitations. Which statue of limitations means how much time do you have to file a claim to protect your rights for recovery. As as long as you filed your claim you can have as much time as needed but, if you don’t file within a certain period of time you could be out of luck. Sadly enough we’ve had people call us after the statute and there’s absolutely nothing that we can do. So it’s important early on in the case that you call us, we determine where you fell, how your injury occurred, how the accident occurred, then we can advise you whether it’s a two-year statute of limitations, three years, or the statute is what we call told, which means the statute doesn’t start until a reasonable person will be aware that they had an injury. And sometimes that applies to certain people, so it’s very complicated. It’s not just black and white of how much time you have. Generally, it’s two or three years sometimes it’s only two, and there’s even cases where it’s only 6 months or a year. So if you call us, we’ll evaluate it and advise you.
