Anytime an insurance company treats you unfairly or refuses to help you, contact a lawyer. The insurance companies have lawyers guiding them. They have their lawyers on retainer answering their questions about cases. If you don’t hire an attorney you’re at a disadvantage. The way to maximize your workers’s compensation settlement is to follow your doctor’s orders, do the treatment he recommends and ask your attorney “What should I be doing?”. And as an attorney, of course, we’re not doctors, I always fall back on the doctor’s opinion. The doctor says do more physical therapy, do more physical therapy. If the doctor suggests you should get this injection, get the injection. The doctor’s there to help you. We’re there to guide you. So if you want to maximize your recovery you follow a doctor’s orders cuz you’re going to maximize the recovery of the settlement and maximize your physical recovery as well The workers compensation lawyer should basically explain the claim explain you how workers compensation works. Your attorney should explain to you what to expect. Your attorney should be able to help you through the treatment that you need and basically help you understand what’s going to happen in the future. If your attorney refuses to explain the case to you refuses to explain what’s the goal of the claim refuses to explain how to get the best possible settlement should leave that attorney. I think when a client is searching for an attorney, call them, you know go on Google see the reviews that they have. You want to have an attorney who does the work, who’s willing to take the time to build your case not just take the case you have and settle it. ‘Cause that’s where you make a case. As you talk to doctors and you ask them, do you see any potential future care for this person? That’s how you make the case. Because that’s not just taking care of the client right now. That’s taking care of the client in the future. So when a client’s looking for an attorney they want an attorney that’s not just going to take the case they have but develop their case into what it could be.
