Bridget Shares Her Story About Her Work Injury

Hi, my name is Bridget. So, I’m just going about my day at work, uh, unfortunately, another worker released a film rack and it hit me in the knee. So, thank God my coworkers surrounded me, and they’re like, “Oh, you should call someone. You should call someone.” They called an ambulance down to come pick me up. The nurse referred me to go to the emergency room. On the way to the emergency room, I’m like, “Who can I call to help me?” Instantly, the Illinois hammer. So, some of the things I was not able to do was walk. Actually, I was literally put on crutches. So, this is my first time ever being on crutches. So, can you imagine walking on crutches, falling over, with a one-year-old at the time? So, I was just really stressed out like, how am I going to get around? How am I going to drive? Like, I knew I had a life. I have a dog that I have to walk. So, it really put me in a mind state like “what am I going to do?”, so, I was really affected by this injury. So, I felt instantly better about my injury because when I called Illinois Hammer, they absolutely got on it right away. Like the same day I was being called, I was sent information about a doctor. A doctor’s appointment was made the next day. The next day I went to go see the doctor. Instantly, I was put in physical therapy to start making my knee better so I could get on about my day and take care of my daughter and my dog.
