Rear-Ending Cases: Need to Know!

A rear-end collision happens every eight seconds, according the National Highway Traffic Safety Association. This type of accident can cause severe injuries, most commonly whiplash, and even in some cases fatalities. One of the most common causes of a rear-end collision is tailgating. Thus, Illinois has enforced Tailgating Laws that address safety measures such as safe driving distances between vehicles.

While it’s common to assume that the rear vehicle is at fault, this is not always the case. For instance, if the vehicle in front stops too quickly or stops suddenly for no reason, the other vehicle involved may not be to blame. Personal injury attorneys suggest that you don’t give a statement to an insurance company until you fully understand the circumstances of your accident and the applicable laws.

Should you find yourself as the victim of a rear-ending car accident the injuries sustain may affect your ability to return to work. It may also require ongoing treatments, such as physical therapy. You may need to hire an attorney to represent you to a jury or an insurance adjuster if your needs are not met.

The Illinois Hammer and his team offer free case assessments to help the client understand the scope of their circumstances. It is important to know what one is entitled to within their rights of the Illinois Law.
